The fall semester has ended. As is usually the case, it is with relief and sadness. The classes that I was involved with this semester were incredibly talented and motivated.
TVR 016A was, at first, a mix of students that did not know each other. This is unusual as we often get groups from TVR 007 that flow into 016A. But not this time. So right off the bat, things were a little awkward. It took until about week 6 or 7, after the real production work started, for the students to gel. But they did gel, and they worked hard and created some beautiful productions.
My TVR 007 class this semester did not have any issues with getting along. They seemed to click right from day one. It was a fun group. Some of them are quite accomplished film/video makers already. I enjoyed their personalities and energy. I hope they continue to go through the TVR series of production class over the next few semesters.
My TVR 107 class was a group that, for the most part, has been together for a couple semesters already. 107 is more about the technology of doing television work. We only did a few productions, but they were ambitious. We did “The Brain”, a game show entirely created by the students. And we wrapped the semester with the “PCC A/V Awards”. Another complete original that celebrated student works. It was a challenge and I think the students were pushed in a good way.
We also streamed 5 home football games, 1 men’s basketball game, and the Theater Dept. production of Dracula. We also had so much activity in the Radio Station. Shows including David’s Podcast, Navagando Del Mar, Friday Live with Bo Benton, Sylvaine and Michelle’s show, plus all new station ID’s. We got the performance room in working order and just this week recorded a two-part interview with legendary music producer and founder of Twin/Tone Records, Peter Jesperson. Look for those interviews before Christmas.
The students and the faculty at PCC are exceptional. We look forward to Winter 2026 and Spring 2026 right around the corner. Thank you all for watching and listening.
